Liza Fromer is the host of The List on Slice TV, and co-host of Power Lines on CFRB, a radio show that talks about energy conservation.
My feet are green because I'm trying to ride my bike as much as possible. There are so many good reasons to do it cutting emissions, saving on gas and getting exercise.
What made you decide to do your bit for the environment?
I don't think it's a choice anymore. Our planet is in bad shape and we have to do something about it. Like a lot of people I became more passionate about the environment after having a child I want him to learn good habits and inherit a healthier planet.
What person or group do you most admire for their environmental commitment?
Bob Hunter and Greenpeace. I worked with Bob at CityTV he was a really amazing man. You can't help but admire his courage and conviction. He continued to dedicate his life to the environmental movement whether it was through his work with Greenpeace or as the environmental reporter for City and he did it long before it was fashionable. I am a monthly donor to Greenpeace.
What is your environmental pet peeve? What do other people do (or not do) that drives you crazy?
Enormous SUV's. I don't understand why we think we need vehicles the size of tanks. That said, I have to admit that I own a small SUV. I bought it just before having my son because I thought I needed a big car and I regret the purchase now. If I need a large vehicle I'm going to purchase a hybrid option my husband and I are researching it now.
What could the whole world live without in order to help our environment?
The idea that saving the environment is someone else's problem.
What's in your Blue Box?
Anything with the triangular recycling sign on the bottom of it.
Is there an environmental initiative you're involved in that you'd like to highlight or promote?
I'm currently looking into buying my electricity from Bullfrog Power. I also host Powerlines on CFRB with the Chief Energy Conservation Officer for Ontario that focuses on energy conservation initiatives.
